What to see
Three things carry this sight. If you are short on time, do them in this order.
- Heming Teahousebamboo chairs, jasmine tea, ear cleaners with tuning forks
- The marriage marketparents advertising their children on umbrellas, weekends
- The bonsai and orchid garden5 minutes from the tea, almost nobody there
Tickets and booking
How the ticket works, and what foreigners usually get wrong.
Before you buy
- Price. Free.
- Booking. Order tea and stay put — that is the entire activity. A covered cup costs CNY 20–30 with unlimited refills, and nobody will ask you to leave. Bringing a laptop and working for an afternoon is genuinely what locals do.
- Payment. Most Chinese sights take WeChat Pay or Alipay only. Cash works at staffed windows but not at self-service machines; a licensed guide can pay on your behalf and settle with you at the end of the day.
Getting there and when to go
Metro Line 2 to People's Park, exit B. Right in the city centre, 15 minutes walk from Tianfu Square.
06:00–22:00. Teahouses from 07:00; busiest 14:00–17:00 on weekends.. The first hour after opening is the quietest — tour groups arrive around 09:30. Late afternoon gives better light but the main viewpoints start clearing people out, so shoot early if that is your priority.
Public transport reaches People’s Park, but connections and waiting times add up. With luggage, older travellers, or two sights in one day, a car and driver removes the guesswork.
