Before you buy
- Price. CNY 34 combined ticket (park + Hall of Prayer + Echo Wall); park-only is CNY 15.
- Booking. Come at 07:00, not 10:00. The park opens two hours before the halls, and the early crowd is local retirees rather than tour groups — the atmosphere is the point, and the hall photographs better in low sun.
- Payment. Most Chinese sights take WeChat Pay or Alipay only. Cash works at staffed windows but not at self-service machines; a licensed guide can pay on your behalf and settle with you at the end of the day.
Getting there and when to go
Metro Line 5 to Tiantan Dongmen, exit A — the east gate is straight ahead. The south gate (Line 14) is closer to the main hall but means a 20-minute walk through the park.
Park 06:00–22:00. Hall of Prayer 08:00–17:30 (Apr–Oct), 08:00–17:00 (Nov–Mar).. The first hour after opening is the quietest — tour groups arrive around 09:30. Late afternoon gives better light but the main viewpoints start clearing people out, so shoot early if that is your priority.
Public transport reaches Temple of Heaven, but connections and waiting times add up. With luggage, older travellers, or two sights in one day, a car and driver removes the guesswork.
